Sri Lanka Expands Free Visa Program to 40 Countries
Sri Lanka has introduced a major expansion of its free visa initiative, opening new opportunities for international travelers and supporting the country’s growing tourism industry.
The new program allows citizens of 40 countries to receive a free 30-day visit visa facility for travel to Sri Lanka. The initiative is expected to operate for a one-year period and is aimed at encouraging more international visitors to explore the island.
What the New Free Visa Program Means
Under the updated visa facility, eligible travelers can obtain a free 30-day visit visa for Sri Lanka. However, travelers should note that entry procedures still apply. Visitors from eligible countries must continue to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before traveling to Sri Lanka. While the visa/ETA fee will be waived, the online ETA application process will remain mandatory.
