The private-driver culture is well established and highly competitive, when travelling as a family or group, having a dedicated driver is often strongly recommended. The challenge is knowing where to start. Fortunately, I was given a recommendation through a friend of a friend who had previously used Scenic Lanka Personal Tour Drivers (SLPTD). Their experience had been overwhelmingly positive, and they specifically recommended Nishan Perera. After making contact, it quickly became clear why he came so highly recommended. From our very first WhatsApp conversation, I had a strong feeling that Nishan would be a good fit for us. He communicated clearly, responded promptly, and inspired confidence from the outset. I sent him our proposed 13-day itinerary, and he quickly came back with a quotation in USD, which I was happy to accept. Nishan met us at Colombo Airport and transferred us to Negombo for our first night in Sri Lanka. Ours was not a package holiday centred around hotels and organised excursions, and Nishan understood that immediately. Throughout the trip, he was happy to stop whenever we needed provisions, refreshments, or supplies, allowing us to travel at our own pace and in our own style. I could say much more about Nishan and the service he provided, but if you're still reading, these are the key reasons I would wholeheartedly recommend him:- • Safe and confident driver. A big part of that was our driver, Dinesh, was consistently punctual, professional, and very easy to travel with. From the first day in Colombo to the final drop-off, he made everything feel smooth and stress-free. We explored beautiful places like Sigiriya, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Ella, and Bentota, each offering something different from ancient sites to cool hill country and relaxing beaches. The scenic drives, especially through tea plantations, were a highlight. One of my favorite moments was the train ride from Ambewela to Ella. Dinesh never rushed us and always gave helpful suggestions along the way. Overall, it felt less like a tour and more like a well-guided journey.
